SURVEY 1 - People Who Did Play An Instrument But Stopped.

I am a Master's Student at WaterBear in Brighton, which is accredited by Falmouth University. I am currently completing my end of course dissertation and this Primary Research will help inform my findings and conclusions. Essentially, it will enable me to get a sense of how things lie in the 'real world', to compare and contrast with my 'Literature Review'/Secondary research and my own experiences as a professional music teacher.

This brief survey asks a series of general questions relating to your experiences with playing or learning an instrument and why you stopped. None of the questions (except the first 'consent' question) are mandatory so you can be assured that if any question makes you uncomfortable for any reason you may feel free to skip.

Some of the questions are slightly more open ended and you can also go into as much or as little detial as you would like. Again, all of your responses will be completely anonymous.

If, however, this sparks an interest in you and you would like to discuss this in greater detail, I may be conducting interviews to further enhance my primary research so please reach out on the email below if this would interest you.

As already noted this survey is being conducted anonymously, and I will strive to protect any sensitive information within the norms of GDPR, in tandem with the Research Ethics Committee at Falmouth University and the BERA guidelines for research.

If you have any questions for me (or would like to discuss a potential interview) then you can email me here:

Mike Vaughan - mikevaughan@me.com

And if you wish to contact the course team with any queries they can be contacted here:

MA Module Convener, Mike Sturgis - Mike@waterbear.org.uk

Research Supervisor, Tim Ferrone - tim@wrappedupmusic.com

Thank you for helping me conduct research in - from what I'm finding - is a relatively little researched and important area.
